Tour groups now have to pay entry fees to Hoi An

To facilitate the process, staff members will be stationed at the town's entrances to provide guidance. It will not be necessary to separate tourist paths from those used by locals in Hoi An.

Ticket prices will be VND120,000 ($5.11) for international visitors and VND80,000 for Vietnamese. According to Hoi An chairman Nguyen Van Son, tour groups without tickets will not be allowed into the old town.

Son said that without an income, the town won't be able to maintain order, infrastructure, the environment, as well as its unique cultural activities.
