Bach Ma Temple is the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi, built in the 9th century to honour the white horse, Bach Ma, which helped Emperor Ly Thai To locate the best area for building a new citadel. The temple features charming wooden doors, red and gold decorations, and shrines to the white horse, Confucius, and the phoenix. Visitors can burn incense and pray quietly or enjoy cultural celebrations and festivities during big festivals.
