A record-breaking 44 degrees Celsius (111.2 degrees Fahrenheit) was recorded in Hoi Xuan Commune in Thanh Hoa Province on Saturday afternoon.
It was reported by the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting that the temperature at the Hoi Xuan monitoring station went higher than the record of 43.3 degrees Celsius set in Huong Khe District of Ha Tinh Province on April 20, 2019.
Lac Son monitoring station in Hoa Binh Province and some areas in Nghe An Province also reached over 43 degrees on Saturday.
Other provinces in the north and central regions reached over 40 degrees Celsius, including Quang Tri, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Ninh Binh, Quang Binh, and Phu Yen. In Hanoi, two areas reached temperatures over 40 degrees.
