Sung Sot Cave

massive, beautiful cave in Halong Bay itinerary
Sung-Sot-Cave-3

Sung Sot Cave, also known as the Surprise Grotto, is considered to be one of the most impressive and popular natural attractions in Halong Bay, Vietnam. It was given its French name, "Grotte des Surprises," for a reason - as visitors are always amazed by the cave's grandeur and beauty.

Located on Bo Hon Island, Sung Sot Cave is situated in the heart of Halong Bay and is in close proximity to other well-known attractions such as Titov Island, Bo Nau Grotto, Me Cung Cave, and Luon Cave. Bo Hon Island is one of the largest in the area, and its resident cave is equally impressive. Another cave on the same island, Trinh Nu Cave, is also worth visiting as it has an interesting story about two lovers who met a tragic end.

Sung Sot Cave is enormous, covering an area of approximately 10,000 square meters, which is about twice the size of the White House. The cave's interior is separated into two main caverns. The first is a smaller, amphitheater-like space, which is connected to the larger cavern through a narrow passageway. The second cavern is massive, and it is large enough to hold over 1,000 people at a time. The entire cave is adorned with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, which add to the cave's mystical and captivating ambiance.
